KRG PM Visits Earthquake-hit Darbandikhan, SE Sulaymaniyah
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani and his deputy Qubad Talabani visited Darbandikhan district on Tuesday after it was shaken by Sunday’s powerful earthquake.
The KRG PM extended his deep condolences to the families of the victims and offered to compensate those affected by the quake.
In a press conference in Darbandikhan, Barzani said that the earthquake caused serious damage in the Kurdistan Region and thanked the government institutions which urgently provided the affected civilians with the necessary assistance.
He noted that the government will compensate the people who have been affected by providing the local administrations with the needed budget.
Barzani also sent heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the victims of the Kurdish citizens in the Iranian Kurdish province of Kermanshah which was severely hit by the earthquake with over 400 people dead and thousands injured.
