British minister in favor of: the need to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries
President of the Republic Barham Salih received at his residence in Rome on Friday evening British Secretary of State for Near East and North Africa Alistair Burt.
“During the meeting, they discussed the latest developments in the region, Iraq’s regional role and its contribution to peace in the region, as well as its efforts to establish security in the country and reconstruction,” a presidential statement said.
President Saleh stressed “the importance of relations between Iraq and the United Kingdom, praising Britain’s role in supporting Iraq, especially in its war against terrorism.”
In turn, the British minister stressed the efforts of his country to develop its relations with Iraq, indicating the need to strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. Source
