The head of the popular crowd is officially announcing his withdrawal from the race to run for prime minister
The leader of the Dawa party and the head of the popular crowd, Faleh al-Fayadh, on Monday, withdrew from the race for prime minister, stressing that the leader of the coalition Haider Abadi, their only candidate for the post.
Fayyad said in a press statement that “all political blocs waiting for the results of the process of counting and sorting by hand, and endorse the final results of the elections,” noting that “Abadi is the candidate of the coalition of victory for the post of prime minister in the next government.”
Fayyad’s statement comes after the news of his candidacy for the post of prime minister accompanied by the current Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, the leader of the Fatah alliance Hadi al-Amiri, and the leader of the Dawa party Tariq Najm.
He pointed out that “the political blocs are conducting a series of dialogues to form the largest bloc in parliament, but these dialogues did not come to agreements until now.”
Fayyad added that “there are positive developments during the last few years in order to reach the largest bloc, although all the blocs have candidates for the post of prime minister. Source
