With full powers … a Kurdish delegation will visit Baghdad tomorrow to agree on the budget

An informed political source stated, Saturday (January 30, 2021), that a Kurdish delegation will visit Baghdad tomorrow, Sunday, to resolve the issue of fixing the Kurdistan region’s share in the 2021 budget.

The source said in an interview with (Baghdad Today), “The Kurdish delegation will be headed by Qubad Talabani and the membership of the finance, planning and regional ministers, and the cabinet secretary will arrive tomorrow, Sunday, to Baghdad.”

He pointed out that “the delegation will be loaded with full powers on a final visit aimed at final agreement on fixing the region’s share in the budget.”

Earlier in the day, the representative of the Saeron Alliance, Riad Al-Masoudi, announced that the House of Representatives had fully completed the 2021 budget bill, while the date for the parliament’s vote was set.

Al-Masoudi said, in an interview with (Baghdad Today), that “the House of Representatives has fully completed the draft budget bill in 2021, and the project will be presented to the political forces within the next two days, to take final opinions.”

He added, “It is very necessary to reach an agreement between the political forces before submitting the budget to the vote under the dome of Parliament, so as not to delay the voting process.”

Al-Masoudi added, “The legislative chapter of the House of Representatives has been extended for a month, and it may not be extended for more than a month, and this period ends at the end of this week. Therefore, the vote on the 2021 budget bill will be taken before the end of this week, and this matter depends on the discussions, which will finally be launched during The next hours and until the voting session. ”

Yesterday, the reporter of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Ahmed Al-Saffar, announced that the price of a barrel of oil was raised in the budget to $ 45 instead of the previous price, which the government had set at $ 42.

Al-Saffar said, in a press statement, that “the committee reduced total expenditures from 164 trillion dinars to less than 130 trillion, in the draft federal budget bill for the fiscal year 2021,” noting that “the committee continues its sessions daily and for nearly two weeks, and the first review has been completed.” For all the articles included in the draft budget, and the final reading has begun.

He added that “the committee has reached Article 12 and there are clear changes in the overall, and there are also proposals, as well as maximizing public revenues according to raising the price of a barrel of oil from 42 dollars to 45, and thus the deficit was reduced to more than 57%, which is less than 30 trillion.”

He pointed out that “there are other articles that have remained pending, and usually remain for the last days in relation to the reduction and the transfer between the chapters and the inclusion of the budget in functional grades, if any, and the region’s share,” expecting that the draft budget will be completed and presented to vote within a week or 10 days.
