Islamic State (IS) militants on Friday overran an Iraqi Army outpost near the Saudi border, killing two soldiers.
Rutba Mayor Imad Mashaal told Al Hurrah that one pro-government Sunni tribal fighter was also killed during the confrontation.
The attack took place in Rutba district of Anbar province, southwest of Iraq.
“Two other army soldiers were wounded,” Mashaal added.
Rutba has been liberated from IS since October 2016. Yet it is frequently challenged by the extremist group’s attacks.
