Iran: Coronavirus Death Toll Exceeds 2,000

Iranian health ministry said on Wednesday that 143 people had died from the new coronavirus in the past 24 hours, rising the death toll to 2,077.

The total number of Iranians infected with COVID-19 has also jumped to 27,017, said Kianoosh Jahanpour, a spokesperson for Iran’s health ministry.

According to the official, 2,206 people tested positive for the novel virus within the past 24 hours alone, whilst 9,625 people have fully recovered and have been discharged from the hospital.

Tehran, Qom, Gilan, Esfahan, Alborz, and Mazandaran are the six worst affected provinces. Source
