Fighting Corruption and Returning IDPs to Be Iraq’s Priority: New PM-designate
Iraq’s new PM-designate Mustafa al-Kadhmi has stated that fighting corruption and helping the IDPs return to their places of origin will be the future government’s priority.
Head of Intelligence Service Kadhmi was nominated by President Barham Salih on Thursday as the country’s new premier-designate.
In a televised message on Thursday evening, Kadhmi reiterated that Iraq would remain committed to addressing the demands of the citizens “not by saying words but by doing actions”
He also revealed that he would soon present his cabinet to the parliament.
“We will only be servants to our people. Our priority will be to fight corruption and return the IDPs to their places of origin. We would serve our people by doing actions not by saying words,” he said.
The prime minister-designate further said it is in his cabinet’s agenda to take Iraq towards a prosperous future.
“I am honored and privileged to be tasked with forming Iraq’s next government. I will work tirelessly to present Iraqis with a program and cabinet that will work to serve them, protect their rights and take Iraq towards a prosperous future,” he wrote on Twitter. Source
