Iran, Russia Discuss Cooperation to Combat Coronavirus
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov held a phone conversation on Monday to discuss cooperations between Tehran and Moscow to combat the novel coronavirus.
They also discussed the US sanctions on Iran amid the worsening coronavirus challenges, according to an official statement.
“The ministers paid special attention to the tasks of multilateral coordination in the fight against coronavirus infection, including the rejection of illegal unilateral sanctions and other restrictions on the supply of medicines and essential goods,” read the statement.
Russia has called on the US on different occasions to ease the sanctions on Iran at least for the time of pandemic for humanitarian purposes.
Iran said on Monday that the total number of COVID-19 cases has climbed to 73,303, with 4,585 deaths. Source
