Jalawla: Iraqi Army Comes Under Mortar Attack by IS
The Islamic State (IS) insurgents on Sunday night carried out a mortar attack on an Iraqi army unit in Jalawla district of Kirkuk province, an official has confirmed.
Speaking to BasNews, Sheikh Jaafer Mustafa, a Kurdistan Democratic Party’s (KDP) representative in the area, pointed out that the incident took place in the village of Tabaj located west of Jalawla.
Possible casualties or material damages are not known yet, Mustafa said.
The attack could also pose a threat to Jalawla, the official added.
The Islamic State on Saturday conducted more than five attacks on the Iraqi forces in separate areas, as the group’s movements have dramatically increased in the areas disputed between Erbil and Baghdad. Source
