Iraq to Reimpose Complete Lockdown as Coronavirus Surges
Following a rapid increase in the coronavirus tally in Iraq, authorities have decided to reimpose a total lockdown across the country, excluding the semiautonomous region of Kurdistan.
According to the latest updates, 3,260 people in Iraq have so far contracted the novel coronavirus, 2,126 people have recovered, and 121 have died.
Iraq’s Coronavirus Task Force on Sunday announced that the complete lockdown would be introduced again beginning on 22nd May.
The lockdown is said to last for eight days, that is until after the Eid al-Fitr at the end of Muslim’s holy month of Ramadan. Source
