Syria: Clashes Erupt Between Kurdish Forces and Turkey-backed Rebels
Clashes erupted on Saturday between the Syrian Kurdish forces and Turkey-backed Syrian islamist groups near Aleppo, a war monitor revealed.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) cited its activists as reporting that the clashes occurred in Maraanaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
“The clashes are accompanied by intense shelling and attacks, amid initial reports of casualties on both sides,” the Britain-based monitoring group added.
However, it was not clear if the monitor referred to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) or if it participated in the military confrontation.
Earlier on Thursday, the Turkish forces bombarded the Kurdish-held areas in the region without resulting in any casualties, SOHR said. Source
