Iraqi Forces Launch New Operation against IS Militants outside Mosul
The Iraqi armed forces on Monday launched a fresh operation to drive out remaining Islamic State (IS) militants from Kanous island in south of Mosul, Nineveh province.
The Island is considered a major IS hotbed in northern Iraq, where the Iraqi forces heavily bombarded with artillery and warplanes today.
The Iraqi Army is reportedly planning to set up a floating walkway to enter the Island and clear it from the IS jihadists.
No other details and possible casualties were not available as the operation is still underway. Source
