Iraq Protests: Nearly 45 People Injured on Sunday
Nearly 45 people, including several security personnel, were injured during Sunday’s demonstrations in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, a medical source revealed.
Speaking to Turkish media Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity, the source noted that at least 33 protesters were injured in clashes with the security forces in the city centre.
He added that the demonstrators were lightly injured with the batons by the security forces, according to the report.
On the first anniversary of the anti-government protests in Iraq, demonstrations were resumed in capital Baghdad on Sunday (October 25).
Meanwhile, Hatem al-Jabri, a police official, further explained that at least 11 security personnel were among the 44 wounded, adding that this came after an unknown person threw a grenade at the security forces on the Republic Bridge. Source
