Turkey Vows Legal Actions over Erdogan Cartoon by Charlie Hebdo

Turkey has threatened to take legal actions over a cartoon of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan by the French magazine Charlie Hebdo.

The cartoon depicts the Turkish president lifting up the dress of a woman while she carries wine glasses and laughs, which drew sharp criticism from the Turkish leaders.

“We strongly condemn the publication concerning our president of the French magazine, which has no respect to faith, the sacred and values,” Erdogan spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.

Relations between France and Turkey began to deteriorate after Macron’s comments on Islam and Muslims, with Erdogan saying that the French president “needed medical checks.”

Turkey’s Erdogan also called for a boycott of French products and Macron called on EU leaders to adopt measures against Ankara. Source
