KRG Introduces New Measures at Schools, Universities as COVID-19 Surges

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has introduced new measures in schools as well as universities to better deal with the epidemic situation as the infections continue to spike.

KRG’s Coronavirus Task Force on Sunday convened to discuss the situation and make a decision on the education process, which was attended by Ministers of Education, Health, as well as Higher Education and Scientific Research.

According to the new measures, the 1st, 2nd, and 12th grades will be suspended from studying until December 1, while the rest of other grades will continue their online education.

As for those villages where residents have issues with internet connection, schools will be closed for this month.

The new measures will affect both public and private schools and universities, the statement added.

University students who study scientific subject will follow a half online and half on-campus system until December 1.

The task force is said to convene again at the end of November in order to evaluate the situation and make new decisions about the education process based on the pandemic situation at the time. So
