“Fingers on the Trigger”: Iran Warns US against Any Provocation
The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready a resolute response to any military provocations from the US or others in the region, a senior Iranian army commander said on Tuesday.
“Although the Islamic Republic of Iran has no intention of carrying out an act of aggression and violation against any neighborring country, it is fully ready [to counter] any threat,” the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri said.
The remarks came in the end of a two-day military drill in Iran’s northern province of Semnan where the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) displayed its Iran-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
“Our heroic Armed Forces have their fingers on the trigger, and in the event of the slightest mistake by the enemies, the Armed Forces will surely give a resolute response,” Baqeri added.
This comes amid another spike in the tensions between Iran and the US while the former marked the first anniversary of the assassination of its top general Qasem Soleimani a few days ago.
Earlier, Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Division, Brigadier General Amir-Ali Hajizadeh warned other countries in the region against consequences they might face for hosting the US troops.
“f something happens here [in the region] and a war breaks out, we will make no distinction between the US bases and the countries hosting them,” Sputnik quoted Hajizadeh. Source
