KRG Determined to Continue Implementing Reform Law: PM Barzani
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is determined to prolong the implementation of the Reform Law which would “increase fairness and transparency” for the people of the autonomous region, PM Masrour Barzani stated on Monday.
Barzani chaired a meeting of the High Committee for the Implementation of the Reform Law in Erbil on Monday, during which underway measures to modernize and streamline the region’s operations and public expenditures were discussed.
“The Prime Minister noted that the Reform Law will increase fairness and transparency for the people of the Kurdistan Region, and that the ongoing process will cover all ministries and government institutions,” reads a statement by the premier’s office.
“He reaffirmed that the Kurdistan Regional Government is determined to continue implementing administrative and financial reforms to prevent corruption and the misuse of public funds.”
Abdulhakim Khosraw, Secretary of the High Committee for the Implementation of the Reform Law, briefed the officials on the ongoing efforts by ministries in implementing reforms.
“Relevant ministers also tabled progress reports, specifically related to the salaries, financial entitlements, pension payments, the reorganisation of the Peshmerga forces, and the elimination of bureaucratic hurdles,” the statement added.
The committee further agreed to present a number of recommendations to the Council of Ministers in efforts to support the implementation of the Reform Law. Source
