Airstrike Hits Weapons Shipment of Pro-Iran Militias on Iraq-Syria Border
Unidentified aircrafts targeted the vehicles carrying weapons supplies from Iraq to Syria for the pro-Iran militias, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The airstrike was carried out near the border crossing on the road leading to Albu Kamal subdistrict of Deir Ezzor province, east of Syria, the report explained.
Sources told the London-based watchdog that massive explosions were heard after the vehicles loaded with ammunition and weapons were hit.
Human casualties are not known yet, the organization added.
The border crossing which connects Iraq’s Anbar province to Syria is an unofficial route often used by military personnel to mobilize forces between the two neighbors.
Though no official claim of responsibility has been made, such attacks against the Iranian troops and their affiliates are often blamed on Israel. Source: BasNews
