Coalition Warplanes Heavily Pound IS Hideouts near Makhmour
US-led Global Coalition warplanes on Thursday heavily bombarded the hideouts of the Islamic State (IS) militants on Qarachoq mountain, near Makhmour.
A local source told BasNews that the airstrikes came after suspected movements of IS militants in the area were reported.
Makhmour is a Kurdish disputed town some 60 kilometers southwest Erbil, the capital city of Kurdistan Region.
The area, which falls between the positions of the Peshmerga forces and Iraqi Army, is believed to have been used by the insurgents of IS as a vacant place to hide.
In coordination with the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces, Coalition air power frequently targets the IS hideouts in the provinces of Kirkuk, Nineveh, Diyala, Salahaddin, and Anbar, where the remaining militants of IS hide and organize attacks.
