Rocket Lands Inside Iraqi Base Home to US Forces
A Katyusha rocket on Sunday landed inside the premises of Ain Al-Assad Base in Iraq’s western province of Anbar.
Iraqi Security Media Cell said in an online statement that the rocket was fired from the direction of al-Baghdadi district towards the base where the US forces are stationed.
The rocket did not explode and caused no significant damage, the statement added.
No group or organization has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, Washington often blames such attacks on the Iran-backed Shia militias which operate within the Hashd al-Shaabi.
