IS Re-emerged in Diyala, Salahaddin Rural Areas: Official
The Islamic State (IS) militants have lately re-emerged in the rural areas of Diyala and Salahaddin provinces, a local source said on Sunday.
The IS extremists have once again begun movements in the villages of Sibe’at, Simed’a, Maita, and Albujum’a, between the two Iraqi provinces, the source explained, citing intelligence information.
He noted that the insurgents have seized the evacuation of residents of the region as an opportunity to reorganize themselves in the territories.
“The area has become a threat to the surrounding villages,” the source argued.
The Islamic State was declared defeated last year, but its sleeper cells still continue to carry out terrorist activities against the security forces and civilians. Source
