No Iraq-Turkey Coordination on Turkish Military Op. in Border Areas: Abadi
Iraqi PM Haider al-Abadi said on Wednesday that there is no agreement between Baghdad and Ankara on the recent Turkish airstrikes in the Iraqi border areas.
The Iraqi premier, at his weekly press conference also noted that Turkish army is trying to get rid of any military operations inside its country as it is approaching the elections.
Turkish snap election is scheduled for June 24.
Abadi further pointed out that Iraq does not support any military confrontation against Turkish army “by any sides”.
Apart from crossing some Iraqi territories, Turkish army has lately launched an air operation against the Kurdiatan Workers’ Party (PKK) main headquarters in Kurdiatan Region’s Mount Qandil.
Ankara had previously asked Baghdad to address the issue of the PKK, threatening to follow the armed group wherever it is present. Source
