Putin: IS Has Taken Hundreds of Hostages in Syria
The Islamic State (IS) has taken hundreds of people hostages in Syria, Russian president Vladimir Putin said on Thursday, adding that among the victims are US and European citizens.
He said that the insurgents have seized 700 hostages in the territories where the US and US-backed forces are dominant in southern part of the Euphrates River.
The Russian top official made the remarks in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, where he pointed out that the extremists have hanged ten of the victims and threatened to execute ten more each day until their demands are met.
However, Putin did not mention what the militants’ demands are. Source
