Coalition Jets Target IS-held Mosque in Syria
The US-led international coalition warplanes have targeted a mosque in Syria which was allegedly used by the jihadist group of Islamic State (IS) as a control center.
The airstrike was carried out in the small town of Baghouz on Monday in support of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), AP reported.
“This mosque lost its protected status when ISIS deliberately chose to use it as a command and control center,” said the coalition’s deputy commander, Maj. Gen. Christopher Ghika, using a different acronym for the militant group, as quoted by the report.
In the meantime, Syrian state media reports claimed that nearly 70 people were either killed or wounded in an air raid conducted by the coalition in the outskirts of Baghouz. Source
