Barzani Pays Tribute to the Victims of Halabja Chemical Attack
Kurdish leader, former president of Kurdistan Region and the current president of Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masoud Barzani, paid tribute to the victims of Halabja chemical attack on Saturday.
Thirty one years ago on 16th March, the Baath regime of Iraq carried out one of the most notorious genocidal attacks of the century against the Kurds in Halabja.
The chemical attack killed over 5,000 civilians instantly, and left more than 10,000 with injuries.
“Participated in a moment of silence at the Barzani Headquarters in honor of the martyrs of Halabja who were subjected to the monstrous chemical attack by the Saddam Hussein regime on March 16, 1988,” Barzani wrote on his official Twitter feed. Source
