Iran Waives Iraqi Passport Holders from Visa Fees
The Iranian government has decided to exempt Iraqi passport holders from all visa fees, starting from 1st April, said Iranian consul in Sulaymaniyah.
The decision came after Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s recent visit to Iraq where he proposed visa fee waivers in a mutual action.
Iraqi passport holders will be granted a single-entrance visa and stay in Iran for 30 days without paying any fees, Sadollah Masoudian told reporters on Sunday.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) had already exempted Iranians from the need to obtain a visa to enter the Kurdistan Region. However, it charged each traveler 25,000 Iraqi Dinar (approximately $20).
Masoudian said KRG representative in Iran has confirmed to Tehran that Erbil has also eliminated the entrance fees at the border gates and airports to welcome the new measures by Iran. Source
