Notorious IS Commander Killed in Iraq
Iraqi forces on Sunday killed a notorious commander of the Islamic State (IS) in the mountainous areas of Diyala province, security sources confirmed.
Media reports cited a statement by Iraq’s War Media Cell as saying that “Abu Idris”, who was among the senior leaders of IS in Iraq, was killed during a special operation on Mount Hamrin.
The operation was carried out by Iraq’s counter-terror service.
The statement said further details will be released later.
Mount Hamrin in Diyala province is said to be the area where IS jihadists who survived the battles in Iraq and Syria, are using to regroup and organize terrorist attacks.
