US Sanctions Threat Won’t Deter Turkey from Buying S-400
The US sanctions threatenings will not deter Turkey from purchasing Russia’s S-400 missile defense system, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar said on Wednesday, adding that the Turkish soldiers are about to receive training on how to use the system.
Washington has repeatedly threatened to sanction Turkey if it doesn’t step back from buying Russia’s defense system, hoping it can pressure Ankara to purchase the US Patriot missile battery system.
However, Akar made it clear that his country would not change its mind about buying the S-400.
“We’ve sent personnel to Russia for S-400 training that will begin in the upcoming days and will span the following months,” Akar said, as quoted by DW News. Source
