Iranian Leader Says Trump Not Worthy of Exchanging Messages
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday that he believes the US President Donald Trump is not worthy of negotiations and exchanging messages.
Abe was in Tehran to reportedly broker the talks between Iran and US and ease tensions in the region.
“I do not see Trump as worthy of any message exchange, and I do not have any reply for him, now or in future,” Iranian state media quoted Khamenei at the meeting with Abe.
The Iranian leader said Trump’s claim that the US does not seek a regime change in Iran was “a lie”. He explained that Washington would attempt to change the Islamic Republic of Iran if it could.
He also noted that negotiations with a country that has already abandoned a previous deal was not wise.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has no trust in America and will never repeat the bitter experience of previous negotiations with America in the framework of the JCPOA,” Khamenei was quoted.
“No wise and proud nation will accept negotiations under pressure.” Source
