UK Considering Deployment of Drones to the Gulf: Report

The United Kingdom is taking into consideration the deployment of drones to secure the waterways in the Gulf for its oil ships, according to a report by Sky News.

The possible plan comes amid increasing tensions with Iran and after Iran seized a British-flagged oil ship in the Gulf earlier in July.

There are a number of UK drones currently based in Kuwait and operating in Syria and Iraq. The report claimed that they could be re-tasked if the decision to deploy drones to the Gulf is pursued.

The drones will help the UK secure the passage through the Strait of Hormuz for its oil shipments. Source
