Iraqi Parliament to Summon Five Ministers over Dereliction

The Iraqi parliament is planning to summon five ministers from PM Adil Abdul-Mahdi’s cabinet over alleged dereliction and negligence in their duties, a lawmaker said.

MP Hussein Arab from al-Bina Coalition at the legislature told al-Dijla TV that three of the ministers are likely to be dismissed by the parliament.

According to Arab, Iraqi minister of electricity is more likely to lose his position due to his failure in improving the situation for electricity across the country.

The minister is summoned by Sairoon bloc, which is the largest at the parliament and belongs to Shia influential cleric Muqtada al-Sadr.

MP Arab noted that al-Bina Coalition fully supports the cabinet of PM Abdul-Mahdi, but it also backs any lawmaker fulfilling their duties in the supervision of the government. Source
