Samson: Abadi and Abdul Mahdi, the most likely to take over the next prime minister

48% of the observers believe that Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi will get the second term, while 32% believe that the politician Adel Abdul Mahdi as prime minister.  The head of the Popular Popular Committee, Faleh Al Fayad, came third with 9%, while former Minister of Planning Ali Al Shukri ranked fourth with 7%.

The fifth, sixth and seventh rank was held by Basrah Governor Asaad al-Aidani, politician Laith Kubba and Mustafa al-Kadhmi, respectively, at 2% and 1%.   LINK

Samson:  Bashir al-Haddad elected second deputy speaker of parliament

Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said during a meeting with UN Secretary-General Jan Kubic on Sunday the importance of speeding up efforts to form a government according to constitutional time.

Iraq is fourth among the Arab oil countries in its ownership of US Treasury bonds

The Central Bank of Iraq that the ownership of US Treasury bonds for June 2018 rose by (24.0) billion dollars compared to (14.3) billion dollars for the month of August 2017, an increase of 67.8 %

The central bank said in a press statement received by “The Economist News”, “In this rise, Iraq ranks (fourth) among some oil countries in the ownership of US Treasury bonds, with Saudi Arabia ranked first in investment in US bonds and bonds worth (164.9) billion ($ 137.9) billion for the month of August 2017, while the UAE came in second place with a total investment of (59.6) billion dollars compared to (55.9 billion dollars in 2017) and Kuwait came third with (42.9 ) billion dollars

He stressed that ” for the foreign currency reserve for Iraq, this bank confirms that he also rose for the month of June 2018 to record (54) billion dollars compared to (46.2) billion dollars for the month of August 2017, an increase rate (16.9%) and came Iraq’s ranking (third) Arab countries, where the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia ranked first with foreign exchange reserves amounting to (508) billion dollars within the Arab countries, while the United Arab Emirates ranked second by (171) billion dollars   LINK

Samson:  Iraq signs a financing agreement with the European Union and the World Bank

The Iraqi government signed on Sunday, September 16, 2018, with the European Union and the World Bank, a financing agreement to strengthen Iraq’s regulatory, accounting and financial management institutions.

“Today there will be an important event for cooperation between the Iraqi government, the World Bank and the European Union to modernize financial information systems and manage financial resources,” said Yara Al Salem, the World Bank’s representative in Iraq.

“Cooperation will include government accountability and transparency by working with governance institutions to enhance their capacity to improve government spending and manage financial resources in an orderly manner to generate economic growth and provide better services to citizens,” she said.  LINK

Samson:  EU and World Bank sign agreement with Iraq

The World Bank and the European Union on Sunday signed an agreement with Iraq worth 15.6 million euros aimed at strengthening oversight institutions and increasing public resource management activities in Iraq

In a joint statement issued by the World Bank and the European Union, the Economist News said that they signed today a “technical assistance program agreement of 15.6 million euros aimed at strengthening the institutions of control and accounting of public finance management in Iraq and increasing the effectiveness of public resources management and service delivery

“This initiative, which will be implemented jointly by the World Bank and the European Union, comes to complement the € 41.5 million fiscal management reform program launched by the World Bank in 2017.
