America renews the imposition of four restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program for 60 days
“The United States renews four restrictions on the Iranian regime’s nuclear program for an additional 60 days,” the State Department said on Tuesday.
The State Department added, in a statement, “Iran’s continued expansion of its nuclear activities is unacceptable.”
And she continued, “The nuclear blackmail of the Iranian regime is among the greatest threats to international peace and security.”
She noted US President Donald Trump’s statement earlier this year that Iran would not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. He will continue to use all diplomatic and economic tools to curb the destabilizing proliferation activities of Iran. “
The State Department stressed that it will continue to monitor all developments in Iran’s nuclear program closely, and can amend these restrictions at any time.
On January 5, Iran announced a fifth and final step in reducing its nuclear obligations, explaining that it had lifted all restrictions on its nuclear operations, including with regard to uranium enrichment.
It is reported that Iran signed in 2015 an agreement with the [five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council in addition to Germany] to lift the sanctions imposed on the Islamic Republic in exchange for allowing international monitoring of its nuclear program. The United States announced a unilateral withdrawal from it and the restoration of tough sanctions against Tehran. Source
