US delegation to discuss Iraq’s redeployment of Peshmerga forces
An American delegation will visit Erbil and Baghdad next week to agree on the redeployment of the Peshmerga forces in the disputed areas alongside the federal forces, a spokesman for the Arab tribes in Nineveh province said.
In an interview with “Radio Sawa”, al-Hawait said that the Peshmerga forces “maintained the areas when they were liberated” and that after their withdrawal in agreement with the Baghdad government, crimes against civilians were committed.
He pointed out that representatives of the Arab tribes met officials in the Ministries of Defense and State Department to discuss the situation in the areas from which the forces withdrew.
Al-Hawait predicted the establishment of a joint operations room between Baghdad and Erbil, which will oversee American advisers to coordinate the Peshmerga forces and the Iraqi government in the disputed areas. Source
