Parliament announces the date for the session to give confidence to the government of Al-Kazemi
The Iraqi Council of Representatives announced on Monday the convening of a special session to consider giving confidence to the government of Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Al-Kazemi next Wednesday evening.
“The Presidency of the House of Representatives decided to hold a voting session on the ministerial program and the government cabinet on Wednesday, 6/5/2020 at nine in the evening,” the parliamentary department said in a statement to Shafak News.
The constitutional deadline before Al-Kazemi ends on May 9th, amid the expansion of the circle of opponents to pass his government in the past few days, after he was initially supported by the vast majority of political blocs.
In the event that Al-Kazemi obtains confidence from the parliament, the new government will succeed the government of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, who resigned in early December 2019 under pressure from popular protests calling for the departure and accountability of the political class accused of corruption and waste of state funds.
