For the first time, the Al-Kazemi government meets demonstrators in Wasit
The office of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, announced on Thursday that the government will hold its first meeting with demonstrators in Wasit Governorate.
“A delegation of Prime Minister advisers, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, met Thursday with representatives of the protesters and activists in Wasit Governorate,” a statement from Al-Kazemi’s media office said to Shafaq News.
The statement added that “the government delegation met in a tent for the protesters on the road leading to the Ahdab oil field, and the protesters’ demands were heard,” noting that “the government delegation pledged to transfer the demands to the Prime Minister.”
The management of the Ahdab oil field, west of Kut in Wasit Governorate, an investor from a Chinese company, announced earlier that the production of liquid gas from the field had stopped due to the arrival of the demonstrators and the closure of the road leading to the field.
The anti-government protests and the ruling political class had toppled the previous government headed by Adel Abdul-Mahdi. Source
