Today, Tuesday, the Prime Minister of Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani supervised a special meeting on the ongoing preparations for drafting the Kurdistan Regional Budget Law for the year 2021.
In the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, they discussed the current financial situation in the region and the ongoing preparations for drafting the Kurdistan Region Budget Law for the year 2021, as well as discussing the data, expenditures and estimated revenues of the ministries.
A statement issued by the regional government received by Shafaq News stated that the meeting stressed the importance of preparing a budget bill that takes into consideration all possibilities and guarantees a realistic and transparent budget that depends on oil and non-oil revenues in addition to the financial deficit and actual expenditures, with the aim of enhancing financial transparency. The meeting also discussed the latest developments in the draft federal budget law for the year 2021, which it is hoped that the parliament will vote on it next week, according to the statement.
The President of the Regional Government affirmed the firm position of the Kurdistan Region in order to reach a radical solution to the outstanding problems between the two sides, including the file of the region’s financial dues based on the constitution.
The Prime Minister expressed his hope that the Iraqi parties would welcome the initiative of the Federal Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, with the aim of reaching a final and comprehensive solution to the problems between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government.
On Monday, the President of the Iraqi Parliament (Parliament), Muhammad al-Halbousi, directed the inclusion of the draft federal financial budget bill for the current year on the agenda of the next parliament session.
The correspondent of Shafaq News Agency reported that Al-Halbousi had directed the inclusion of the budget bill on the agenda of next Monday’s session, based on a request submitted by Representative Yousef Al-Kalabi signed by 150 deputies.
