Iranian artillery resumes shelling parts of Kurdistan
Iranian artilleries heavily shelled Halgurd mountain and surrounding areas on the border of Iranian Kurdistan where suspected positions of Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) are located, NRT reported Saturday.
Also, Turkish fighter jets launched airstrikes against suspected positions of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the foothills of the Qandil Mountains in the Kurdistan Region.
Tensions have remained high between members of the KDP-I and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and clashes between the two have resulted in a number of deaths on both sides.
Also, tensions between Ankara and the Kurds increased in July 2015 when a ceasefire between Turkey and PKK collapsed over a series of terror attacks allegedly committed by PKK members.
