Offering Parliament Presidency for sale ‘extremely dangerous’, says Hikma’s Tarafi

Babib al-Tarafi, member of al-Hikma Movement (the National Wisdom Movement), warned on Sunday against “overbidding” for the House of Representatives presidency position.

Unfortunately, according to Tarafi, some representatives were transferred to other blocs in return for large sums of money for the sake of forming the bigger bloc.

Tarafi considered this to be a “betrayal to citizens who elected them and the spilled blood of martyrs,” while stressing that the Iraqi Parliamentshould be done with the top three positions, which include the presidency of the Parliament, to avoid any potential financial or administrative corruption that is not fit for the Parliament’s stature, such as buying Parliament seats. Source
