80% of drugs in Iraq enter through Iran: Basra police chief
Iran is the source of 80 percent of the drugs entering Iraq, according to Basra’s police chief.
Basra police chief Rasheed Falih revealed on Saturday that 80 percent of the drugs entering Iraq had crossed from the Iranian border, adding that joint operations have started to secure the common border to prevent the spread of drugs in the province.
He added that the common border with Iran amounts to 94 km, including the Shatt al-Arab area, which is in need of continuous clean-up and the prosecution of gangs trafficking drugs. Source
