Abd al-Mahdi embarks on foreign tour from Kuwait: Ambassador

Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi is due to embark on a foreign tour with Kuwait set to be his first leg, Iraq’s Ambassador to Kuwait Alaa al-Hashimi said.

In statements to Al-Anba newspaper, Hashimi asserted the depth of Iraqi-Kuwaiti relations.

Speaking about a recent visit by Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled al-Jarallah to Iraq, the ambassador said that the two sides agreed on the necessity of settling unresolved files by the end of the year as well as activating bilateral agreements.

After more than a two-year hiatus, the joint committee is scheduled to convene during 2019, the ambassador went on to say.

As for the output of the shared oil fields, Hashimi said bilateral relations regulate these fields, adding that the anticipated new Iraqi government will talk with the Kuwaiti side on fresh agreements for the new concessions. Source
