Iraq and Jordan agree on an economic and security development

Iraq’s Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari and his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi announced the development of agreements to boost trade, economic and investment exchanges and facilitate cross-border movement after the opening of the Trebil crossing.

The two ministers stressed at a conference held in Amman on the continuation of defense and security cooperation to confront militarily, security and intellectually.

And stressed their keenness to cooperate in the reconstruction of Iraq. Jaafari welcomed a key Jordanian role in the process.

Safadi stressed that Jordan will contribute all its resources to the reconstruction process and recognizes the importance of restoring Iraq to its full role as a cornerstone for the stability and security of the region and for serving common Arab and Islamic issues.

Safadi stressed the support of the Kingdom for the efforts of the Iraqi government in the reconstruction and the establishment of security, pointing to the importance of the upcoming elections as a major step in the rooting of the democratic process that enshrines the state of citizenship and achievement.
