Federal Court appeals to amend the election law, except the cancellation of elections for the displaced and the special in the region
The Federal Supreme Court responded to the appeals to amend the election law except for the article on the vote of the outside and the displaced and private in the Kurdistan region.
“The powers of the House of Representatives are in force until the end of its electoral cycle,” said Judge Medhat al-Mahmoud during the session.
“The re-counting and manual sorting is a correct procedure,” the official Iraqi News Agency quoted the head of the Federal Court as saying. “The re-counting and the manual counting of votes increases the confidence of citizens and their implementation is consistent with the constitution.”
“The Federal Court is of the view that the cancellation of the results of the elections abroad and the vote of the displaced represents a waste of voters’ votes.”
Accordingly, Judge Mahmood announced the response of the Federal Supreme Court appeals for the amendment of the election law, except for the article on the abolition of elections and the displaced and private in the Kurdistan region. Source
