Massoud Barzani calls for a review of relations between Baghdad and Erbil away from intolerance and tension
Iraqi Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leader Massoud Barzani called for a review of relations between Baghdad and Erbil away from “intolerance and tension” especially after parliamentary elections.
Barzani said in a letter to the public opinion, published by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that “the elections of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, produced new conditions,” and expressed the hope that the relations between Erbil and Baghdad be reviewed away from intolerance and tension, and be the beginning of the stage New between the two sides. “
Barzani pointed out that there is some doubt and concern about the election process and its results, calling on the Electoral Commission to take necessary steps to remove doubts and convince the parties protesting.
Barzani called on the Kurdish parties to prefer national interests to partisan interests, following the words, “unity of sound to make gains and preserve our rights, otherwise we are weak.”
The Electoral Commission announced the victory of the coalition ranked first in the parliamentary elections with 54 seats out of 329 parliamentary seats, while the list of the coalition of conquest led by Hadi Amiri ranked second in the final results and victory list led by Prime Minister Haider Abadi, ranked third.
