Wednesday 28, April 2021 23:47 Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail received a phone call from Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman.

According to a ministry statement, the Saudi minister conveyed his condolences and the condolences of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Iraqi people and the Iraqi government over the fire incident at Ibn Al-Khatib Hospital.

He expressed the Kingdom’s solidarity with the families of the victims and the wounded, expressing the Kingdom’s readiness to provide support and assistance to Iraq.

For his part, the Minister of Oil expressed his appreciation for the stance of the Kingdom, the government and the people, and for their brotherly feelings towards the Iraqi people.

Last summer the government had a domestic travel scheme where you got 40% off hotels, food & drink and flights so we did quite a bit of travelling in the latter half of the year. Shafaq News Agency correspondent reported that CBI sales at the Foreign Exchange Auctions settled at $177,231,378 compared to $204,267,368 on Wednesday. The weighted average rate of the dinar to the U.S. dollar amounted to 1460.

Our correspondent explained that 11 banks and seven banking companies shared a cash load of $14.65 million, while $162,581,378 went to boost funds abroad in the form of transfers and credits, with 32 banks meeting those requests.

Butterfly  2021-04-29 07:32  Shafaq News/ The Prime Minister of Kurdistan, Masrour Barzani, hosted the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih, earlier today, Thursday.

A readout of the meeting issued by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said PM Barzani and President Salih discussed the latest developments and updates on the situation in Iraq and Kurdistan, stressing the importance of addressing the unresolved issues between the Federal and Regional governments.

The meeting deemed the consensus over the 2021 Federal Budget law as a “positive step” that shall benefit all the components and territories in Iraq, laying emphasis upon delivering the allocations of the Kurdistan Region as soon as possible, according to the readout.

The meeting appraised the reforms commenced by the Region’s government and highlighted the support the ninth cabinet needs to achieve its quest, serve the public interest, and protect the constitutional entity of the Kurdistan Region.

In another aspect of the meeting, Salih and Barzani touched upon the upcountry legislative elections in Iraq and the importance of holding just and fair elections to guarantee the rights and the aspirations of all the Iraqi components.

Shafaq News/ The alliance of Kurdish forces in Kirkuk, a.k.a the Kurdistan Alliance, broke up today, and the Kurdish parties will run for the upcoming legislative elections with separate electoral rosters.

The official of the Kurdistan Democratic Socialist Party, Rasool Raouf, said in a statement to Shafaq News Agency, “the Kurdistan Alliance does not exist anymore.”

“Kurdish parties will run for the elections with separate lists,” Rasool added, “four Kurdish parties have completed their rosters.”

Raouf attributed the dissolution of the alliance to the absence of any previous meetings to agree upon the list, “the former alliance was established to run for the provincial council’s elections.”

“Those [upcoming] elections are different. Anybody can run for a post independently from parties since the votes are counted for the candidate, not the party.”

“There is an approach to the Federal Supreme Court to challenge the electoral law. We addressed the Prime Ministry and the Presidency of the Republic to appeal some of the law’s articles.”
