The Iraqi Ambassador to Kuwait, Al-Manhal Al-Safi, announced the entry of the first Iraqi car into Kuwaiti territory after an interruption of more than 33 years.
This came on the sidelines of the football match between the Iraqi and Kuwaiti national teams in the Asian qualifiers for the 2030 World Cup, scheduled to be held on Tuesday, September 10.
Al-Safi stated via his account on the “X” platform that the car belongs to an Iraqi citizen who came to attend the match, and at the end of his tweet, the Iraqi ambassador thanked Kuwait for the warm reception.
The Iraqi Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Al-Mubarqa, and the ambassador supervised the entry of the car belonging to an Iraqi family into Kuwait.
Al-Mubarqa arrived in Kuwait on an official visit, where he met with the Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Culture and the Minister of State for Youth Affairs to discuss ways to enhance youth and sports relations between the two countries.
Social media activists circulated a video clip documenting the arrival of the first Iraqi car to Kuwait in more than 30 years, after the liberation of Kuwait from the Iraqi invasion in August 1990.
The Iraqi ambassador confirmed that Kuwait allowed 5,000 Iraqi fans to enter to attend the match, after coordination with the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior of Kuwait, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef.
In this context, Iraqi Airways announced that it will operate direct flights to the State of Kuwait to transport Iraqi fans supporting the Iraqi national team.
The Iraqi Ministry of Transport called on those wishing to travel to carry an electronic passport with an entry visa to the State of Kuwait and a prior hotel reservation during the period of stay.
