A day after opening its embassy, ​​Switzerland appoints its first ambassador to Baghdad in 33 years

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein received today, Wednesday, a copy of the credentials of the Swiss Ambassador residing in Iraq, Daniel Hon.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Hussein welcomed, according to a statement by the Foreign Ministry received by {Furat News} a copy of it, “the reopening of the Swiss embassy in the capital, Baghdad, after 33 years of closure,” stressing that this step is important in the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Switzerland, and reflects the desire of both sides to consolidate cooperation in various fields.

Hussein pointed out that the reopening of the Swiss embassy represents an important positive step in strengthening the course of diplomatic relations and opening new horizons for fruitful cooperation between the two countries, in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly peoples. The minister affirmed the Iraqi government’s support for the success of the Swiss mission in Baghdad.

For his part, Ambassador Hon expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Minister, expressing his country’s aspiration to strengthen relations with Iraq in various fields, in a way that enhances the common ties between the two friendly countries.
