The British newspaper “The Telegraph” warned on Friday that the American presidential candidate Kamala Harris is more dangerous to the security of the Western alliance than her competitor Donald Trump, because she lacks experience in foreign and domestic policy.
According to a report by the newspaper, if Donald Trump wins, there are some expectations about major security issues, such as the future of NATO and the war in Ukraine, even if they do not align with the goals of other presidents.
The newspaper said that threats to withdraw Washington from NATO if member states do not pay the costs of operating the alliance fairly and stop support for Ukraine are “expected and noteworthy to generate headlines to bolster his campaign.”
Harris, however, is a little-known figure, according to the report, especially when it comes to the foreign policy prospects of the woman seeking to become America’s 47th president.
“When she was chosen as Biden’s running mate, Harris had no foreign policy experience or even domestic policy experience, raising expectations about how Russian President Vladimir Putin and leaders like him would react if she won the election,” the report added.
The newspaper described Harris’s absence from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech before a joint session of the US Congress as “unimpressive and out of protocol.”
She stressed, however, that it may be politically expedient at a time when Democrats are deeply divided over the war in Gaza, with more than 30 Democrats boycotting the event in protest of the continuing Israeli assault on the Strip.
Harris does not have a strong track record on the only foreign policy issue, which is curbing the flow of illegal immigrants into the country, according to the Telegraph, which indicates that Harris will become a greater challenge to the Western alliance than Trump if she succeeds in winning the presidential competition.
The newspaper described Harris as “inexperienced” and stressed that her arrival to the presidency would be satisfactory to Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea, which want to destroy Western influence on the global level, according to the report.
