Shafaq News / The Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Ali Al-Alaq, announced that the federal government owes the bank a financial amount of about 50 trillion dinars, stressing the continuation of pursuing hard currency smugglers the dollar abroad.
Al-Alaq said in a statement to journalists and media that there is a tendency for the dollar to get inside airports through outlets for sober companies.
On the cost of printing the Iraqi currency, the bank’s governor said that it costs from 5 – 6 cents per card, adding that it is not a sovereign fund in light of the current budget deficit.
He added that the Central Bank is asking for 46 trillion dinars, 30 of which are in the previous government headed by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazimi.
Al-Alaq denied talking about the entry of 14 foreign banks into Iraq and said that this is incorrect, noting that banks that have correspondent banks have their status intact, official and easy with foreign transfers.
He also stressed that the upcoming trend is to eliminate speculators in the parallel market, rejecting the security treatment of traders with arrest and insult, describing it as completely unacceptable.
The governor of the Central Bank of Iraq stressed, saying: We are fighting a great battle to remove the illegal groups that seize hard currency.
Regarding the country’s possession of the precious yellow metal, he said that there is a future for gold, and Iraq has 132 tons.
