On The Sixty-Fourth Anniversary Of The Glorious July 1958 Revolution..Together To Defeat The Quota System And Impose The Will For Change
Posted On2022-07-12 By Sotaliraq The revolution of the fourteenth of July 1958 was not a passing event, or a voluntary act of an elite group of revolutionaries, whose obsession was to hasten to save their people from the horrific trinity of ignorance, poverty and disease that prevailed in Iraqi society throughout the period of the monarchy and its colonial protectors. Rather, the revolution was a culmination.
For the struggles of the Iraqis, and their successive uprisings, to get rid of this reactionary, dependent and tyrannical regime, and to replace it with a national and progressive system in form and content.
The monarchy, by its nature loyal to colonialism and feudalism, was an obstacle to the development of Iraqi society politically, economically and socially, and the ruling minority blocked peaceful means in the face of the national and democratic forces that wanted change and carried a progressive project, so they used violence against any mass movement, including demand movements, such as workers strikes. and peaceful peasant uprisings.
Pursuits, prisons, torture, executions, revocation of citizenship from our people’s fighters, in addition to counter-media, rumors and psychological warfare, were the preferred means for the rulers of Iraq, against the national and democratic forces, especially the communists, who played an active and even avant-garde role in all mass struggles, in defense of the interests of the toiling and the poor. , and the vast majority of the Iraqi people.
Personal and public liberties such as freedom of the press, expression and belief were also confiscated, and the formal parliamentary elections were rigged in the first place, and martial law was declared more than once, whenever the revolutionary activity of the Iraqi patriots escalated.
The English armies in Habbaniyah and Shuaiba provided protection for these rulers and their authoritarian regime, in addition to the presence of English advisors in all important ministries and government departments, as they were the actual rulers of Iraq.
As for the socio-economic level, the class differentiation has deepened in the countryside and the city alike. It can be said that there is no country in the world in which the ownership of agricultural land differed between farmers and landlords like Iraq, and as a result hundreds of thousands of farmers became deprived of land before the revolution, and they did not own a single inch of it.
The condition of workers in the cities was not better than them, whether in terms of wages, working conditions and unemployment, and the low standard of living of the rest of the social strata, in line with the poverty of education, health and other necessary needs. Also, oil, Iraq’s main wealth, was under the complete control of foreign companies, especially British ones, which left the Iraqis with nothing but crumbs.
The rulers of Iraq at that time sought with all their might to link the country to colonial military alliances, to ensure their survival in power as they had imagined, and they achieved what they wanted by joining the Baghdad Pact, after
Their brutality against the people and its national forces, so they exposed themselves more and more, considering them to be a favourite and loyal to colonialism.
For this reason, the popular masses, in the hundreds of thousands throughout the country, from the far north to the far south, announced their joy at the revolution and their readiness to protect it and root its path. During its short life before it was assassinated by the enemies of Iraq, the reactionary and obscurantist forces, with the black coup of February 8, 1963, the revolution made great and very important achievements, by breaking out of military alliances and humiliating agreements, releasing detainees and political prisoners, and enacting the agrarian reform law that liberated the peasants from the oppression of the feudal lords The big owners.
The revolution launched public freedoms and partisan and professional activities, especially in the first year of its life. Large numbers of hand and thought workers in cities and rural areas, both men and women, rushed to political activity. The student, youth and feminist movement, unions, labor and professional unions witnessed a great revival, and the government concluded agreements with the Union The Soviet Union, and other socialist countries, which helped to advance the country industrially and agriculturally.
The revolution government also issued Personal Status Law No. (188) for the year 1959, which is the first civil law regulating family relations in Iraq, as well as Law No. (80) for the year 1961, which liberated 5.99% of Iraqi lands that were subject to monopolistic oil companies, and the government established At that time, also, by building low-cost cities and homes, and distributing them to the toiling and people with limited income, and thus raising the standard of living, social, political and cultural life of the Iraqi people.
On this occasion, we remember the righteous martyrs of the revolution’s leaders, led by the martyr Abdul Karim Qassem and his faithful companions, as well as the leaders of our glorified party, Salam Adel, Jamal Al-Haidari, Muhammad Salih Al-Abli, Muhammad Hussein Abu Al-Eis, Abdul Rahim Sharif, George Tello and hundreds of party cadres and comrades, patriots and democrats. Victims of the February bloody coup.
The remembrance of history, with its sweet and sour, must be accompanied by benefiting from its lessons and through it, and the first lessons of the valiant July 14th revolution is the unity of the Iraqi people with all their patriotic and democratic forces, which was embodied in the National Union Front, raising the banner of citizenship, and the revolutionary insistence that the masses play The pivotal role in achieving the achievements, gains, and legitimate aspirations for the present and the future, by taking matters into its own hands, without a guardian or climber on its shoulders, or a prisoner of its selfish personal interests.
The importance and necessity of democracy must also be emphasized; Political and social, not to neglect either of them, with a persistent and tireless struggle against the tendencies of exclusivity and work to establish a sound democratic and constitutional life, and to preserve the sovereignty of the country and its independent national decision.
The opportunity is right now, for civil and democratic forces, and for everyone who truly believes in serious and comprehensive change, to unify their political discourse, programs, work mechanisms, and joint activity, away from secondary differences.
take advantage of them. Field work among the masses and relying on them remains the solution, and it is the decisive factor in achieving success or not.
Let us work together to defeat the ethnic sectarian quota system, corruption and uncontrolled weapons, which were, and still are, behind the crises and disasters afflicting our Iraqi people. Peaceful and multi-form, and the imposition of the will of the people aspiring to comprehensive change.
Long live the sixty-fourth anniversary of the glorious (14) July Revolution.
Glory and eternity to the martyrs of the people and the homeland.
Victory for the Iraqi people and their civil, democratic and patriotic forces.

Posted On2022-07-12 By Sotaliraq On Monday, the former deputy of the Azm Alliance, Jassem Al-Jabbara, considered the political and administrative crises in Salah al-Din, the disputes of spoils and the settlement of profits between influential political forces and figures that have controlled the province for many years.

Al-Jabbarah called on the next government to “strict integrity to purge the province of spoilers and rescue it from the whales of corruption that swallowed the landmarks and identity of the province,” noting that “the conditions of Salah al-Din’s service and construction are currently worse than the practices of terrorism and its absurdity.”
